Island Group Plans Leadership Team
Ken Dunne is the President and founder of Island Group Plans. He founded Island Group Plans in September of 2000. Island Group Plans incorporated in 2002. Ken built IGP from a one person office in to an agency that has over twenty five employees, including more than a dozen leading industry brokers. The IGP account service team is widely recognized for their innovative integrated approach to client service. Under his leadership team IGP has been recognized as one of Long Island most influential and competitive agencies in the employee benefits industry.
Ken served with e 101st Airborne Division, including tours overseas in with the Multi Forces & Observers task force in the Middle East. He also served with the 77th Infantry Division during the first Gulf War. Additionally, Ken taught high school social studies for more than a decade prior to founding Island Group Plans, Inc. He has a Bachelor and a Master’s degree from the University of Stony Brook.
Ken Prechtl has over 35 years in the Financial Services Industry. Previously a Senior Vice President with a large international bank dealing directly with Institutional client relationships. Ken has spent the last 8 years in the Employee Benefit marketplace in which his analytical skills and client relationship experience has proven to be a tremendous asset. Ken is the glue that links the Client Service Department with the Sales & Marketing Department to provide seamless service to all our valued clients.
Ken joined Island Group Plans as the Managing Partner in 2007 and has helped in the growth of the company over the past 5 years. Ken lives in Massapequa and is married to his wife Maria and has two children, Nicole and Christopher. In addition to work Ken is an avid golfer and has successfully raised over $40,000 for The Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop University Hospital and continues to support the tremendous programs provided by this wonderful institution.
Director of Account Management & Broker Relations
Carol has been working in the field of employee benefits since 1994, in both the Human Resources Department and the Insurance Broker’s Office. Her background further includes 3 years as Office Manager/Administrative Assistant for a sole Practitioner Attorney. Employment in the Accounting Department of a State Accredited Preschool has also added to her work experience. She has been with Island Group Plans since 2004. Organizing, scheduling, problem solving, efficiency, courtesy and respect are the strengths Carol brings to Island Group Plans. Many of our clients have a long relationship and dedication to Island Group Plans, she is happy to be a part of that longevity.
But, all work and no play, Carol realizes life needs to be balanced. So, aside from working, she is a runner in her spare time and she also enjoy's cooking her favorite recipes.
Cindi Berdon is the Marketing Director of Island Group Plans. In addition, she provides employee benefits consulting and brokerage services for clients in New York. Cindi has over 16 years experience in the Insurance Industry and over 12 years as the owner of CBM Enterprises, Inc., a sales and marketing company. Prior to joining Island Group Plans, Cindi ran her own business, where she worked with many small businesses on Long Island. She has worked in the capacity of Sales & Marketing Manager for HealthFirst, Vytra Health Plans and Cigna. Cindi prides herself on her family values and dedicating herself to her three children. In her spare time, she is the cubscout leader and fundraising committee chairperson for both of her son’s scout troops and assists in many community service projects on Long Island.
